Types of Reviews on The Whisky Study
Types of Reviews
In-Depth Reviews
These reviews start with some background on the distillery and the whisky itself. It then goes through the color, nose, palate, finish, final thoughts, and if I would plan to buy again. This will eventually expand to even more information as the site progresses and grows.
Shelf Reviews
These reviews are designed for quick reads that will help if you’re at your local liquor store and don’t know what to buy. This is a quick read that doesn’t include as much background about the distillery or origins of the whisky. Instead, it’s more of a quick recap of the nose, palate, finish and if I would recommend picking up a bottle.
Last Drop Reviews
This review describes how whisky can change through the life of a bottle. It will give a quick recap of the whisky overall, but it will be more focused on comparing how I felt when I opened the bottle to when I finished it. I have found that while drinking through a bottle, my opinion can change rather drastically. Sometimes aeration improves a bottle and sometimes I struggle to finishing those last few pours.
