WORLD WHISKEY REVIEWS
Indri Trini Three Wood Review
Indri Three Wood one caught my eye because of its unique use of three specific wood types: first fill bourbon, ex French wine cask, and PX sherry casks. It also features no color added, non-chill filtration, and a healthy 46% ABV.
Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye Review (63.7%)
Aged for a minimum of 5 years, and using 100% Canadian prairie rye, and released at full cask strength, Alberta Premium Cask Strength feels like the opposite of what we have come to expect from our neighbors to the north.
Crown Royal Blenders’ Mash
There’s been a bit more buzz about this Crown Royal Bourbon Mash expression than most Crown Royal so I am excited to jump in. It comes in at the legal limit of 80 proof and uses a combination of new and used charred oak.
Kavalan Solist Oloroso Sherry Cask Strength Single Cask Review
Known for its densely rich and flavorful whisky, Kalavan has created a large portfolio of special editions and single casks. This bottle comes from their “Solist” line that makes up the upper tier of their offerings. Specifically, this whisky comes is from a single Oloroso sherry cask, and clocks in at 55.6% ABV, is non-chill filtered, and has natural color.
Starward Nova Single Malt Review
Nova is Starward’s flagship single malt and features an age of around 2 years, a strange 82 proof, and as with all Starward expressions, a red wine cask maturation process.
Starward Solera Single Malt Shelf Review
Starward’s Solera Single Malt uses the traditional solera method to fractionally fill barrels of various ages and types to create a homogenous end product. This Solera expression is aged in barrels that previously held Apera (the Australian term for sherry) and is bottled at 43% ABV.
Starward Two-Fold Double Grain Review
Starward Two-Fold Double Grain is a whisky that blends the base spirit from Nova alongside a wheat whisky and after aging both in fresh red wine barrels from local wineries.
Amrut Cask Strength Single Cask Shelf Review
The Amrut expression I’m looking at today is the first ever single barrel selection brought into the US and sold exclusively through K&L in California. It’s bottled at about 6.5 years, lived its entire life in an ex-Oloroso sherry cask, and was bottled at a full 60% ABV.
