Opinion Through the Bottle: This New Riff K&L Single Barrel bourbon was the first cask strength New Riff I had tried - and boy did it deliver. While it came in a little lower proof than other cask strength bourbons from Kentucky, it started off with a blast of flavor and over the course of the two years I had it open, it never relented. This was a solid hitter through my time with it, representing a significantly above average pour at a great price point. The $50 price point for a hand selected single barrel is noteworthy because it meant that I never felt guilty for reaching for a quick pour. It had just enough heat to give complex flavors without ever punching me in the tastebuds.

Score: 92

Will I restock this? If you haven’t yet experienced New Riff’s Single Barrel program, it deserves a look. This was a solid bottle that I will happily restock. It’s easy to find, great value, over 4 years old, packs classic flavors, and hails from a smaller Kentucky distillery. What’s not to love here?
