K&L “Every Drop” 7 Year Bourbon Review Shelf Review
Shelf Review
Designed to give you all the quick hit information you need when you’re standing in front of your local liquor store’s whisky shelf.
What will happen to the bourbon industry when distilleries realize they no longer have enough demand to gobble up every barrel they make? Today’s bottle is probably a good preview of what we could look forward to: a rise in American focused independent bottlers. And while independent bottlers have technically been around for decades, today’s expression from K&L in California is an example of the where the industry could go. Up until now, it’s been rare to see an independent bottling of Wild Turkey at an elevated proof, with a good age statement, for less than $50. But K&L has somehow managed to do just that. But is this just a distillery dumping barrels they don’t like? Or is this the kind of value we can get behind? Let’s dive in and find out.
Age: 7 Year (Batch KY-03-25)
ABV: 53.5%
Cask: New Oak
MSRP: $49.99
Distillery Name: Undisclosed Distillery in Lawrenceburg (Wild Turkey)
Review Date: 6/18/26
Nose: Hits with immediate dusty funk mixed with baking spice, orange peel, sawdust, and allspice. Maintains the earthy, funky character made famous by Wild Turkey.
Palate: More of that classic distillery profile. Funky, herbal spice with a meaty midpalate accented by heavy oak and salted peanut shells. Reminds me of walking through a rickhouse in the dead of a Kentucky summer.
Finish: Medium length finish with cinnamon sticks, touch of honey and teriyaki sauce.
Score: 87
Would I buy again? If this had the official distillery name on it, this would have sold out in minutes. But the bottle that fanboys will overlook leaves the rest of us with a great opportunity. K&L’s “Every Drop” Batch 03-25 does a great job of showcasing what makes Wild Turkey so appealing to its devout following – but this bottle won’t be for everyone. That unmistakable Turkey funk is on display throughout – and while it’s a fun ride – it will probably challenge the more mainstream Buffalo Trace leaning fanbase.
A second bottle would probably help cement me among the Wild Turkey faithful.
But I’m not sure I need a backup.
